crankset weights...

does any body know how much the crankset on a Giant Rainier weighs?
do you think it's a lot heavier than a shimano XT crankset?
is it worth the $$$ to change them?
the stock cranks look beefy, but i don't know what material they're made from. i ASSume it's aluminum, but don't know for sure,. or what alloy. do you?
also, what are the XTs made out of? what alloy?
thanks for the info!

xt cranks are made from forged ultra duraluminum and they are of the hollow type, the chainrings are made of aluminium.

they weigh 647g 175mm version.

sorry dont know how much the cranks weigh on the giant, have you the manual it might tell you in there.
