Hey guys new to the forum, got a quick question

I just purchased a specialized hardrock sport disc and it has RST Gilla forks on it right now and for all i know they are doing great (im new to Mountain Biking). well the point is the guys at my LBS have a used silver minatou six front fork for sale im not sure what year it is but its going for 75 bucks they are trying to tell me it would be a huge improvement over the RST. what do yall think?

Not a significant improvement. The RST isn't a great fork, but the Six is only like one step higher in quality.

I'd ride it like it is and save some money for a good deal on an upper end fork on closeout. I'd wait about a year, save about $150 to $200 and get a decent fork. By then, you'll know more about your riding style and can be a smarter consumer.

Plus, by then you'll have some experience at bike mechanics under your belt and we'll walk you through installing it yourself.

Enjoy!

Yep, installing it yourself is a good way to save 20 bucks. I agree though, wait a little bit. Ride it, find out what you like and look at last years models, sometimes cambriabike has clearance sales on ebay.

that what i was thinking i should probley do, but what is a good fork upgraded that i should be keeping my eye on. can any fork be used as long as it is disc compatible

Ride the bike for awhile and find out what kind of riding you are into, then take a look at the forks that the big 4 offer.(MarzocchI, Manitou, Rock Shox and Fox.) Find the one that will fit your needs and your budget and go with that. Also check out the fork(s) buying guide.

I had a six sport on my bike, It did not work well for me, I was told that the six sport was not available as a stand alone purchase, it was sold OEM on certian bikes.
I think that you would be switching the same level component.
I still have mine, I will sell it to you for 25 bucks plus shipping if you really want a six sport. :-)

I'll give you $25 for it!

PM me!

I need a fork for a beater bike!

My friend has a harkrock and has an RST fork on it. My old fork was a Manitou Six. I think the Six is much better than the RST. My opinion :)
