Gonna be tough to find those. Kelly Take-offs were another similar setup, for use with DT shift levers.

Retroshift has fancy levers with barend shifters plopped on 'em. Easy to find but about as expensive as Tiagra brifters.

IF you're trying to run 7 or 8 speed you can get just the brake levers for $129, and I think 7-sp and 8-sp shimano barends will mount on. Have to read up to make sure they fit, though.

And there's always the friction option.

dminor...if i knew that was meant for something i wouldn't be asking. i'm a roadie/ss/fg guy... but thanks for pointing it out....LOL

LesterofPuppets.... for the same price, i'd probably end up pickin up some soras (if they work w/ mtb deraillers..) I have Deore XT on there now... The Retroshift don't look as clean as a standard brifter... thanks for the suggestion though. i don't think i'd want to run barcons....too far away.

9-sp Sora, etc. would work with the rear derailer only.

if it'll work w/ the rear, why not the front? and the mtb has only 7 rear gears, so how would an 8 (or 9 spd) shifter work?

I kinda had the same reaction as dminor. I've never seen a set up like that on an off road bike. The posture would be low for me and it seems the hands would be exposed. In a CX situation and for commuting that would be an excellent setup.

Yeah, most users of drops on dirt get special high-rise, short reach stems to mitigate that.
