Full suspension 29er for +/- $2,500: what to consider?

Not gonna do the mail order thing. Will be supporting one of the excellent LBS we have here in Austin.

Saw a Cannondale Scalpel 3 29er w aluminum frame at one of the LBS for $2,500, marked down from $3,500. It's a 2013 closeout. Has SRAM X9 and a Lefty fork.

My use will be singletracking in a fairly extensive network of trails in Texas Hill Country near my house. Won't race or frankly go all that fast.

Other options? Last time I bought a mountain bike was 1993. Still have it.

    Thank you.

Hands down my recommendation would be go with a yeti SB95 Comp - - but at 2,900, it's a bit over your price range. But, dang, Yeti SB + 29er + reasonable price tag? You couldn't lose.

Scott Spark is an excellent bike that is race proven and a solid XC/All Mountain bike.

    REI.com has a smoking deal on a 650B

    Its a 2013 NIB
I think its disgusting and terrible how people treat Lance Armstrong, especially after winning 7 Tour de France Titles while on drugs!

I can't even find my bike when I'm on drugs. -Willie N.

^^ I don't think I'd categorize a Spark as an all-mtn rig, with a 70 head angle and 100mm travel. That's solidly XC; Genius would be more like it but still can't hold a candle to the SB95.
