How Do You Stay in Shape in the Winter?

By living somewhere that doesn't have winter. It truly is amazing to go for a 3 hr ride in January wearing the same thing I wear in June. It was 70 F and sunny up on South Mountain today.
    I like food.

I feel like with winter riding, you can do less but actually keep in pretty good shape just because it can be more demanding. I also run...er jog more in the winter months.

My three step winter exercise regimen:
    1. Drink lots of beer to exercise the arm muscles.
    2. Eat plenty of Pizza to exercise the jaw muscles.
    3. Repeat 1 & 2 while watching TV especially during football playoffs, exercise the fingers using the remote.

That definitely describes my training regimen in previous winters.

That's a good strategy. I wonder what my family would think of it.

If i was riding a road bike, I am not sure what to do . I ride a vintage Schwinn Spitfire 5 in the winter. So you need a good warm pair of gloves, if they are not warm enough put a pair of cotton gloves inside your gloves. Should be warm enough. Then your toes lol you are certainly not gonna ride if you cant find a way to keep your feet warm. Doesnt seem to matter to me too much about the boot if you have warm enough socks. I actually have a pair of boots that are large enough I can wear three pairs of socks one pair being 100% wool. If you have a pair of lined Sorrel type boot you can get away with 2 pairs of socks one pair being 100% wool.

Today in Michigan it is about 36 degrees making it much easier to stay warm. Dropping below 30 you have to be careful.

Then I wear a balaklava pulled around my neck,,if my face gets too cold I can pull it up or you can wear a mask.

dminor is a dangerous photoshopper! He has caught me a couple times.

I am actually trying some kettleball training with some body weight exercises like Turkish Get-Ups and Squats.
I think its disgusting and terrible how people treat Lance Armstrong, especially after winning 7 Tour de France Titles while on drugs!

I can't even find my bike when I'm on drugs. -Willie N.
