slim tube vs regular?

I got a flat today, I road threw a school parking lot and got a tac in my wheel.... any ways.

I have never bought tubes before. I was wondering if I should get slim tubes.
I was planning on going to wallmart to get one, I imagine they do not carry good quality bike equipment.
Does tube qualty really matter or for the most part are most of them good.
What exactly do slim tubes do? Do they completely fill in the hole or do they just temp patch it so you can get home?
Either way I am probably going to get the cheapest 26" tubes I can find but its good to know.

Do you mean Slime? - SLIME ? Worldwide Leader in Tire Care ? Repairing a flat tire? Slime Tire & Tube Sealant » Faqs
I have never used Slime tubes, but reading these forums, some say they work, some say they make a mess when you get a puncture.

As for tube quality, as long as they hold air, they're fine. Cheaper tubes will probably be heavier, if that bothers you.

And you can buy patch kits to repair small holes in tubes.

Patch it! I no longer run sealant in any of my tubes.
