Funny cassette thingy Question

heyguys, So ive found a set of wheels that im tempted to bid on (the front anyway) But ive just looked at pictures of the back wheel and the silver bit that the cassette fixes onto looks really wird, it isnt splined and looks totally different than what ive seen before, can anybody tell me what it is? How easy is it to get a cassette for it?

I had a quick google and also couldnt find any hubs like the one in the ad- the Goldtec ones I saw all seemed to be single speed- the hub in the ad does look splined but it also does look strangely angular but it could just be the pic

it is a bit mysterious

Perhaps it's some kind of cover to protect it during transport? I doubt that they use some proprietary cassette.
