Anyone ever heard or are you familial with Alton Bikes ? please can you give opinions

Hello and good day
Im new here and trying to find out about a bike id like to get
Growing up i always had Giants it was my favorite brand ever
i have not had a bike in about 10 years the last one i had was a full suspesnion giant can't remember the name i think of it but it was a Giant
my brother borrowed it and left it outside and it got stolen i know it was like a 2000 dollar bike
and if i had that kind of money to spend now id go for it again
but i don't
and i don't need a full suspension
so im looking at this bike here

its a Alton Brand
Corsa Model DP-x9-29er
DP-X9 29er | ALTON USA

its a good price that i can afford and im wondering if this would be something anyone els would think is good perhaps

i like that i saw a youtube video of how this particular frame material has a better eslatic style then an Alluminum so it will bounse back a bit better i am a 300 pound guy
3 months ago i was 394 pounds i had surgery for weight loose and im going down to 225 by the end of this summer
but i want the bike so that i can be better on track i miss riding in the parks and just having a good fun time
i like this because its got trigger speed shifters and front and rear shimano disc brakes and a front fork suspension
i like that its a 29 inch
and wondering what you all think of this

thank you

Hard to form an opinion . . . specs are a little nebulous . . .

i think the frame material is a special type of lightweight but stronger then aluminum it's DP 780. Or DB 780

Some better options, if you're specifically looking for a 29r. However, I'd suggest going to your local bike shop first and seeing what they have. My shop gets in a lot of used bikes for resell. It's not uncommon for them to have a brand-name, like new, quality bike for $200 or $300, that retailed for closer to $1000. Bikes depreciate a lot. And a lot of mountainbikes are bought by people who end up just riding them on paved or dirt trails a few times a year, so they're not abused....

thanks but the only thing i can afford right now is to buy one from online where i can use a web credit card i have
im in colledge and all the cash or credit i have on a visa or mastercard goes to tuition and school supplies and for me there not cheap i go to culinary school and just bought a new knife spent 400 on a good chef knife that will last me 20 years easy i feel if taken care of like i do

so for me to spend the 559 on the Alton bike and maybe once i get back out and know what im doing again and get more active on it ill just post it on CL and sell it for 200 and then ill put that money to a good strong giant again
but i did go to all the local bike shops a few months ago when looking and even the used ones where all like 500-1500 and most of them where personal bikes that belonged to the employees

i had the chance to get a Giant Revel 1 with every option the Giant Revel could have for 500 dollars but i just coudln't swing that right now

so im using the web base credit card i have that can only be used online and going to get the alton ill let you all know what i think of it once i get it and put it together
i did call a bike shop and asked them about putting it together the guy said if im good with tooling that i could probably get it together in an hour or so and then if i wanted just bring it in for a tune up for 60 bucks and then he will be able to check and make sure i got it all together propperly he did say the one thing that everyone has trouble with that hasn't done it before is getting the disc brakes installed properly adjusted

I own an alton t33 mentor. Alton is a fairly common bike here in Korea, as I'm sure you know. They are all pretty moderately priced and fairly standard quality. Nothing special, but reliable in my experiences. They do tend to be a bit heavy, but are fairly stable feeling in their ride. Corex is another ultra common brand here and very similar to Alton. They are a safe buy, I hope that helps
