Everything can be upgraded, but it always comes down to 'is it worth upgrading parts or replacing the bike, thereby upgrading everything'.
Don't put the cart in front of the horse: get the bike and ride it a few times and then, if you need to, make a plan to upgrade or replace…or, worst case, return and replace. You have to make sure the bike is going to fit you first, so I wouldn't be concerned with replacing springs and other components right now.

before i purchase i went to the bike shop and tried out a a couple mediums and large bikes
the 19 inch spealized was to big for me but the guy at the shop said specalized are know for running larger and hed put me in a 17.5 medium if i was set on a spealized but
otehrs such as Giants and Treks and others a large would be fine for me evne the mediums are 19 he said on some of the other brans and the giants fit me good so i think the 19 inch on this one will fit good if it doesn't then ill put it back in the box and return it or maybe even just put it on CL and sell it its brand new has a warranty might be able to get 400 for it perhaps and then take the money and put it toards one at a local shop that i really want

Sounds like a really well deserved gift. Congratulations on your weight loss.

The fork may or may not have the manufacturers branding -- likely made by RST or SR Suntour. It's not likely that you would be able to source alternative springs from the manufacturer for that fork. It's not something to be too concerned with at the moment.

Truly great job, bro. Being outside dominates being inside on a trainer or stationary bike. Keep it up.

Thumper, you are the MAN! Keep getting healthy, you will find that riding your bike will give the rest of your body some exercise much better than the trainer. But the air is fresher and the scenery changes.

Man that's awesome !
A well deserved gift for sure. The amount of joy from a bike is priceless. I got back into it a couple years ago and it really gives me something to look forward to.
Enjoy the new ride and congratulations on the weight loss victory!
