Handling tweak: Should I get a shorter stem?

I upgraded from the stock, worn-out, super gross RST 80mm fork to a 100mm Rockshox XC30. I love the fork, but my climbing handling is sloppier, thanks to the slacker headtube angle. Would a shorter and/or lower rise stem do anything to tighten up the handling again? I currently have a 25.4mm, 25 degree Bontrager stem. Let's assume I chose a 31.8mm, 0 degree stem... What would happen? Would it get snappier or sloppier?

Ooooops. By 25.4mm I apparently was referring to the handlebar diameter (thank you Trek specs page...) My stem length is probably 80-100mm.
