A Beautiful Day

I heard that the local trail workers were going to be working on the trail right down from my house last weekend, so today I rode down there in hopes that it had been all cleaned up. Well it hadn't, but I still rode to the top anyways and planned on doing the typical run that I am super tired of. As I turned a corner I caught sight of a newly cut track in the side of the hill. Then I remembered that several weeks ago a local rider told me that an LBS was going to cut a downhill track at this park I was riding. I rode over, barely found it due to overgrown bushes at the beginning, and then stumbled upon a beautiful DH track. I have never really rode downhill, but I gave it a shot on my XC F/S bike. First time was a little hairy, but 2nd time I dropped my seat real low and that made all the difference. Never had to stop, never washed out, all good.
So it was wonderful discovering a new trail at the loca park. Such a welcome surprise.

that's sweet. Today was my first mtn bike ride of the season, it felt great to run through the shade of the trees and feel the cool breeze come off of the streams that cross the paths. (Tasli, NC)
