Hey Aussies - Drift 2

Well looks like I stopped the movie at the wrong time. While Drift has tonnes of djing that really doesn't show any progression beyond the fact you guys rule the earth at moto-whips, and a bikecross section that well...bored me, and a bmx section that has no place in a pro movie (sorry but whoever that was is an average bmxer, unless they only caught his worst moments) But all those bad things made up a 1/3 of the movie. The rest of the movie was pure unadulterated dh fun. Some incredible footage of dh and steeps, all technical and stunning.

The extras were the best and most abundant EVER. Ride with cedric kicked ass, the 'extras' were awesome (except for the aussie knocking the canadians) and this movie had THE most footage of the redbull freeride comp, which Ihave always wanted.

I didn't even rate this as the beginning stunk... but definately deserves a 7 or maybe 8 (I skipped the sections that don't belong in a mtb video)...

I still don't understand why there was so much average bmx...I really can't figure it out. I know 3 kids in whistler that can do the same things shown in the movie.

How sick is the step down in the forest, you know it's huge and dangerous when Kovarik says it's too dangerous. Also you know that part where they are doing a DH along a fire road and they are jumping the water bars, that is in Thredbo, I was there about a month ago, those water bars are about 40ft apart, super slippery surface and lots of people who tried that ended up with broken wrists (plural).

And everyone wonders why Aussie's rule the world at DH

Also don't remember but do they show the typical Aussie DH race? If so it will be a bunch of blokes talking at the top of a hill, sitting on bikes sharing tips and drinking beer.

Yep...its very canadian too haha. Watching the movie reminded me in a lot of ways of how we are (socially) too. Its pretty comical. Might explain why so many of you come to bc to live for seasons at a time.

I think there is a south african, brit and frenchman up there too

Nah, those guys suck, we all know that that Fenchie loves second spot, the Brit is too pissed to ride straight (us Aussies can handle our liquor) and the South African is too tired to win because of all the testing he has to do on his super bike, which if he pedalled backwards would destroy itself.

Is this a Blackphoenixfilms DVD? One of those guys (Robbie?) has a shop here in Newcastle called Drift. Their videos always get good reviews, and even if they suck, those guys do a lot locally to promote the sport.

One of my 203mm Ti rotors graces the wall of shame in their shop. Nice guys though.

Why is your rotor on their wall of shame, is it due to the fact that it's Ti?

It's on their as a reminder of how cool it is that a 203mm Ti rotor is lighter than the lightest steel one made. It's also a reminder of what a bad idea Ti rotors are. I think we got 200km out of them before they seized in the pads. They're all gouged up, and the front brake pad actually shot off the bike like a gunshot. It was an incredibly expensive lesson, as they were custom made. We've since switched to the Shimano XT in the same size. I try not to think of the cost of our tandem, as we probably replaced $1000 worth of new parts in the first 3 or 4 months.

The front end looks like a DH bike. There's nothing that terribly expensive about tandems. We import heaps of stuff anyway, but I did kind of let things get out of control.

Sure do!

Yeah the bmx stuff bored me too. I skip it every time i watch it. As for the DH, yep thats why i like it so much, its so much like what i ride.

Yeah, the ride with cedric was heaps good, i even picked up a few pointers . As for us paying out you canadians, what? We were kicking ur asses (And i think that guy was drunk too... cant remember)

Agrees. Some of the music stank too but a lot of it grew on me.

Probably just lack of footage.
