Z150 Fr

Does anyone know where I can find a 2004 Z150 freeride fork? I am looking for them on the internet and nobody seems to have any left. I did however find an 04 Z1 Drop Off 1 fork and a Z.1 Fr ETA fork, of the two, which is best? And one final question, if i get a fork with the QR20 axle, do i need a special 20 mm hub or will any work?

you need a 20mm hub, so this wont work with the hub you have now, youll need a new hub laced onto your old rim, or you could just buy a complete wheel with a 20mm hub

Will any 20mm hub work though?

Yes as long as you have the qr20 axle. (should come with the fork)

Ok z1 Dropoff - ok fork not actually on par with the usual z1 lineup
z1 eta - awesome fork
z150fr (which number 1,2,3) - the 1 and 2 are on par with the old z1 eta and the z1fr3 is really just a dropoff with a new name.

Here's a few:

Or, you can buy a NEW one off eBAY for $360, like I did a month ago.... If you're lucky.

those are the z150 sl.... the fr is better (i think)

Maelstrom 03-27-05 08:41 PM

Just different. Ones air and the other is oil. I don't like the feel of air but really they are 'equal'....

Killer B 03-27-05 08:52 PM

Right Mael,
They're BOTH Freeride forks. Air/oil & coil/oil (+ 1lb.)

The SL takes a little getting used to, but works great IMO.
If you find a good deal (as I hope I did), I'd recommend you buy "either"....

Glad you're liking it killer, told ya it would be a good fork ;) I am loving mine. I have the standard FR and WOW, best fork I have ever ridden.

Thanx guys, I just ordered a Z.1 FR ETA, is there anything i need to know about installing it, or any fork in general?

Maelstrom 03-28-05 02:02 PM

I thought you asked this already in the mech forum. Ya, get the shop to do it. You need a special tool to put the starfangled nut in. If you have to cut the steerer you want to cut it straight as possible, and if you dont know how to pull off a race and put a race on without the right tools, you could damage it which sucks.

Ok thanks, ive never been in the tech forum. I noticed that my original question said it was moved, does that mean it got moved TO the tech forum? Any idea what thatw ill cost me?

MadMan2k 03-28-05 02:52 PM

My shop said they'd charge like $15 to install a fork.

Maelstrom 03-28-05 02:56 PM

I moved your last thread. I didn't feel like going into detail about installing a fork, so I left that to the guys who like to type a lot of mech details.

That's why I love my LBS, :p, they install forks for free (provided you buy it from them. ;))

Maelstrom 03-28-05 03:43 PM

If you buy it from them I would expect it.
