Throwback Thursday Feature : Rocky Mountain Bicycle testing

1999... Rock and roll, kick ass riding, and Marzocchi girls.

5 inches was a lot of travel.

This very bike checks in at 10:28... Wade Simmons (extreme test pilot) said this was his favourite and he was carrying a backpack full of gear to do dynamic testing of the carbon frame about a decade before Specialized laid claim to this.

There is only one and it was built here... we are going to rid the bike of it's commuting wheels and put it back on the trail for a little more evaluation.

Cranks were also designed and built here...

I'm on restricted internet till the 13th so haven't seen the video yet but I'm keen to know how those Magura brakes work and I really want those cranks for my Sakae "badly" :twitchy:

The Maguras will crush lesser rims... the levers are aftermarket and have a smaller reservoir and better modulation.

I will see if my partner has any more of those RF cranks... he gave me one in red that was a production version with no logos which is pretty cool.

Having run those cranks for quite some time I can say that they are as good as they look... was told that during certification that they had to shut off the testing equipment as they could not get them to fail over repeated test cycles.

The carbon elements also dampen vibration and have a different feel than the forged version which is also a really fine crank.
