Karma: Better late than never
10 years ago, I was coasting home on my MTB after my first ride with clipless pedals. My Onza HO pedals were very finicky but I got the hang of them after a few minor falls on the trail. I coasted the bike up the driveway and into the open garage where I stored it. I skidded to a stop but couldn't get out of my new pedals and fell hard against the washing machine. My wife heard the racket and opened the door to find me on the ground, still clipped in, slammed against the washer. She laughed. She laughed long and hard.
Fast forward to March 28, 2005. My wife, a competitive distance runner, is getting more and more serious about triathlon racing. She's been riding my old road bike for about a year and it's worked fine for her. Recently, though, members of her tri club convinced her that riding in toe clips and running shoes was robbing her efficiency so she decided to upgrade. Fortunately for her, I have a mint pair of Speedplay X2 pedals from my tri days. She bought shoes and I installed the pedals. We went out into the driveway for her clipless pedals lessons.
I explained how they worked and showed her how to get in and out of them. She pedaled up the driveway but couldn't clip in one foot. She slowed to a crawl and RIGHT before putting her foot down, it clipped in. Over she goes in the driveway.
Later that night, while icing the knee she banged on the pavement, I reminded her of my first ride with clipless pedals.

Nice. You should have reminded her of this little phrase: "Karma's a b*tch!"
