If that is a Bio-Pace crank it would be between 88 and 90/91. If an original 7 speed rear, 89 to 91. if 6 speed 88 to 90., maybe 91, depends on where in the line-up the bike fell.
Bio-Pace was "new" circa 1988 and "dead" circa 1991. personally, other than a very limited chain ring selection (nothing lower than 28 tooth for the granny, with a 38 and 48 middle and outer rings for the mountain bikes) I like Bio-Pace. The 7 speed rear started showing up on the upper end bikes around 1988/1989, 6 speed was gone by 91.

1988 had Suntour XCM cranks, derailleurs, etc. And u - brake out back. Also had funky old Giant typeface.
This one is newer than 88 but probably not by much.

Could be. Might've been u-brakes for small frames only.
