Dismantling and reassembling a full suspension frame.
I'm an American living in Brazil. I want to bring a decent MTB back with me the next time I'm in the US. The problem is I'll be way over my customs quota and bring a large item like a bike would draw undesired attention. Bike frames are too big to be sent economically via USPS or courier but a dismantled full suspension frame should fit with the max size for USPS's reasonably priced service. I've spoken to a few mechanics / LBS owners some say reassembly is fairly simple, others recommend against it. Commments? Are some frames easier than others to put back together? I'd use the bike on a mix of deplapitated paved roads, cobblestone, dirt roads and fairly simple trails. My budget is about $1000 for a full bike or perhaps $ 500 for a frame.

Bikes: Bike list is not a resume. Nobody cares.

Disassembly/reassembly is totally do-able. Just take your time, ziplock bag and label everything that you are unfamiliar with, take pictures if you have to and it should go fine.

For your budget, is it really worth it? you will only be getting a very entry level bike or frame. A quick look on Jenson USA, and your looking at $1700 for their cheapest FS frame...
