Anyone know about this brand of bike? I was looking at purchasing a new mountain bike and found this site: https://www.smith-wesson.com/mb/con_bikes.htm

The company sales police bikes but have a consumer line as well. I was needing some expert advice on quality and price of this product. Any help would be appreciated.

I have known that Smith and Wesson made police bikes for a while, but I never knew that they also made consumer models. From looking at the bikes, however, they look as though they might be more for the recreational rider. While the available parts mix looks O.K. for derrailleurs, etc. on the custom bikes, I cannot speak for the frame, or other cost-cutting features that might not be so apparent. While this might be a fine bike, I would go with a better-known brand unless you could ride it first. You might have a problem finding a place that carries them(I have never seen a shop with them). Either way you decide, I would definitely ride it and inspect it first.

To me they look like decent bikes with reasonable specs and parts and the usual range of sizes. But at those prices, I'd want to see some independent reviews; who knows how good those frames are, and there are a lot of unidentified parts.

You can buy very good bikes from major brands with comparable drivetrains from bike shops for less money, and get the advantage of local service and support as part of the deal.

Until S&W has the cajones to renounce their incestuous agreement made during the Klintonazi regime, do your part to put them in financial dire straits. Boycott any and all products with the Smith & Wesson name.

I would think that they would weigh 4 tons and come with mudflaps if they're made by Smith & Wesson. Do you think they have an optional gun rack?

I was in New Orleans recently and saw a guy flash by on one of those things. Didn't get a very good look, but the guy himself seemed pretty fit and serious, so maybe there's something to them. BTW, I did see a couple of bicycle cops who were on Raleighs.

Oh, and let me tell ya this: there's few words so groan/wince-worthy and over-applied as "tactical." It should be a warning bell.

Actually what happened is the British conglomerate that owned S&W sold them right after the agreement with the klintonazis. After the agreement they were seriously in red ink because of the active boycotts.

It ended up that Saf-T-Lock bought the S&W assets for pennies on the dollar. They have not renounced the agreement, so the boycott is still on.

This is simply a bike by a (or several - considering the full suspension offering) famous makers rebranded by S&W.. You can by it from someone else for less no doubt. The FS bike looks like a Trek. Good luck.

To add to this information, as I understand things Bush/Ashcroft are ignoring the terms of the agreement, and letting S&W do as it likes. The agreement is still enforceable, however, so S&W would be right back where they were in 99 and 00 if the D's win an election.

I don't know what penalties there are for S&W in the agreement if they blow off the agreement, though I suppose those penalties too could be ignored by a Justice Department so inclined. All the more reason for S&W to shred the thing now, if they're going to do so at all.

That's the point of many of the posts. S&W made a deal to be left out of the Clinton sponsored lawsuits againts gun manufactures. When they did that many of us refused to buy their products.

Some cities were sueing the pistol mfg for building a defective device. It must be defective because people got killed with it. The suits have basically all been thrown out of court since the cities are buying guns for their police force to use to ...

Anyway S&W made a deasl to not sell to certain gun shops, work on safety systems that would be more dangerious than no safety. In exchange they wouldn't be sued and would get preferencital treatment in purchasing guns for police. Naturally gun lovers (like me) think of this as a sell out.

S&W was then sold by the English company that owned it and the CEO that made the deal is gone.

As a believer in the 2nd ammendment I would (and will)
support the boycott, besides I kinda prefer H&Ks
maybe Beretta.

I hear ya on the HKs. I have a few of their pistols and have been happy with them. Time to sell some of them because I have other toys I want to buy and the HKs are safe queens that don't get shot much.

It is good to know not everyone on this board is an antigun, brain dead, klinton loving piece of excrement.

First, regarding the Clinton/S&W agreement, aka "Making a deal with the devil." The agreement seems to be dying, thank God. The new owners want to get out of it very much and I don't think we should punish them. In fact, they should be given our full support. If they go out of business the winner will be Sara Brady and her bunch.

In fact considered buying a S&W Mountain bike myself. But, because I do normally carry a licensed handgun while riding. Usually a lightweight S&W titanium/scandium revolver, I do not want to bring attention to myself by riding a "gun" bike. Even though I have a valid CCW, I think it could possibly cause some hassles.

Not a bad idea . I always ( on long rides ) take a KelTec P40 in specially made fanny pack . Things happen on the road . I do have a license .

I agree with your first point. But iquestion the second - I like the idea of folks thinking I may be armed. I don't want to have to used it. Some places it is illeagle to let it show, but to give them the vague impression that you maybe armed just might discourage them.
