What rims for Santa Cruz Blur

Deciding on rims for the Santa Cruz Blur for a XC bike (XT group, Talas or RLT100 fork), DT XR 4.1d rims or Mavics 717, they're both good, preference?

717 offers a lot of bang for the buck. It's pretty light, and descently stiff.....Really depends if you care about the littie bit of difference or not

The Mavic 717 isn't a bad rim in the slightest

I wouldn't want a sun on either of my bikes, with the exception of the Rhynolites would not go too well with a bike like the blur though. Mavics are welded not pinned like suns are. There is a reason why mavics are popular wheels, they work good and are sturdy.

thanks, plenty to go from on this thread. I posted a seperate thread that hasn't received as much attention :-(
Blur 2005, LBS are offering the Talas fork 80-125, yet SC advises their frames, albeit the 2004 frame is not designed to go greater than 105. Thoughts?

Mavic makes good rims yes, thers no doubt about that. BUt I find Sun and velocity to be a much better buy. Sometimes sun has a slight bulge at the rim seam, but its only 1 or so mm max, nobody will notice that while riding. I got a set of 0 degree lites for 30 dollars new on ebay. the 717s would have ran me 65 per

He just got a new santa cruz ($$$$). I don't think he is worried about an extra $100.00 on rims
