Got a quick question. . .

Is $530 a good price for a never been used '03 Gary Fisher Tassajara? I think the guy is asking to much for it seeing that this bike is going on 3 years old. But I just wanted to ask because maybe its a deal and I don't know it. Thanks!

If it has disks then it's not a bad deal, if it doesn't then it's only $120 less than the msrp on a new 05 model.

No it didn't have disc brakes on it. If I could get hime to come down any lower what price would make it worth buying? $500-$480 or lower still?

I'd say lowerm bikes depreciate super fast. That should be worth something like half of its MSRP because of its age or maybe a little more then half.

I would say that $450, or even $400 would be fair, if in truth it has never been ridden. But you have to factor in that everything on the bike is still 3 years old...even though it wasn't ridden. Personally, if I were buying a used bike, I would want it to have been ridden so I would know if the owner had taken care of it in the way of tune-ups and such. I hope that makes sense...

Yeah if I could get him down to $450 I might go for it. The bike is in beautiful condition. However I don't think he will go that low. That is the reason his shop has so many older bikes. The guy is a tight wad!

My buddy's got an '04 and if the '03 was spec'd with the same (or worse) parts, he definitely needs to come down on price. Maybe the ol' "haggle and walk" bluff would work. Get him down to the lowest he's gonna go and then say, "Dude, sorry, I can't swing that. I'll see ya." or something similar. If he really likes holding on to old models or you've made it clear that's the bike you want already it won't make any difference, but if he really wants to clear out a little room maybe he'll take the bait.
