I am in the same boat as both of you. I am considering the HardRock as well, I want to test ride it again.

My question is should I buy the HardRock Comp Disc or a bare bones Rockhopper?

Well I heard the Rockhopper has the better frame but I am a big guy so I need a solid bike. That is what keeps drawing me back to the HardRock. I really want the Kona Hoss but I don't have that kind of cash right now.

Any ideas where? I did a dealer search and the nearest dealer to me is 40+ miles away.

The HR is a kick ass ride. Ive had mine for 2 years and love it. Just got done with a 2 hour ride and I want to go back. Components are entry level but with every bike, theres always the opportunity to upgrade.

Just got a HR Pro Disc...Love it....great bike. I rode both the Rockhooper and the HR and picked the HR because I just felt more comfortable on it....ride them both and pick the one you feel the best on....don't worry to much about componenants at the price point...

I have a HR Comp and I love it. I also have a 6 foot drop right outside my house. I have ridden that drop every day for 16 months now and the bike loves it as much as I do. Its such a great bike, I see no reason to sell it.

i have a 3 week old Hardrock Sport that my parents got me for my birthday and I love it...besides the fact that the left crankarm has fallen off 3 times and has been in the shop just as many. It is still an all around good bike since I have a 1 year waranty on mine. I would advise replacing the fork if you get it though. The marz mz comp is not a very good fork. Plenty of travel but it is too soft in my opinion. I would upgrade to a Rock Shox Reba or an SID. But I wouldnt even go for the comp. i would go for the sport or the sport disc. The comp and pro need to have their forks replaced anyways so I would just save their money on the comp and buy a good fork.
