26, 27.5 and 29..... pick two
if you were to have two mtbs what would you choose
Currently have a 26r HT and 29r FS
Looking to replace the 26r, does it make sense to go to 27.5 if I already have a 29r?
the trails that I ride varies and I like having options

Pick two? Long travel 26" FS and short travel 26" FS. Or 26" FS and 26" HT.

Ride each of them on some hilly single track, then make a decision.

I have rode 26 and currently a 650B. My buddy rides a 29er. I "personally" cannot stand extra large wheels. I don't care what the hell they will roll over. I am a rider that is all about maneuverability and 29" wheels are just like a tank to me. Plow right through it. I want to be that smaller vehicle that can make fast maneuvers. To me 27.5 is still small enough to make fast turns. 26" still is ok for me as well even at 6' tall. 29" just too large IMHO. To each their own though.

All my bikes are 26", but purpose built for whatever I'm in the mood for--(3) fully suspended (1) 26x24 DJ hardtail (1) SS hardtail.
I have ridden a few 650b's and 29'ers, and if I were to add big wheels to the stable I'd probably go with a 29'er or a 27.5+ hardtail, but I'd have to unload at least 2 of my current bikes and that's not likely to happen any time soon.

If I had to pick two different sizes I would go with 26 and 27.5. Not because I've ever ridden a 27.5, but because when I tested a 29 all I could think was "why?". I'm perplexed as to how they became popular. To each his own I guess.

Rigid geared 29r and rigid SS 700cx42, technically not a 29r but works for me.

100mm 29er HT and a 150mm 26 FS.
The HT for most mountain riding and the FS for shuttle/ski resort rides.

Pick two. Exactly. I think there should be more bikes with eccentric BBs so you can pick two on same frame and still keep similar BB height.

26" DH sled and 26" 6" FS for everything else. 650b long-travel trailbike would be fine but I think my SB66 was a better match for me than the SB75.

I am a road cyclist (long time). But I want to try a mountain bike for winter cycling (again). I an thinking riding easy trails might be some cold weather fun.
I thought an old (yet nice) mountain bike might be cheaper to buy. So I've been looking on CL for a quality aluminum 26". But I haven't really found much. Apparently... they are still somewhat in demand.
