Im looking for new tires for my bike does anybody have some recommendations and/or links to these. Right now im using these maxxis all around tires and im looking for something more aggresive. I ride medium to loose conditions.

Any help is appreciated!

I picked up a set of michelin Hot S tires and they hook up like MAD, though it's basically unreasonable to ride them on the road. I did it for 20 miles yesterday and I'll be glad to get my slicks back for road riding. Otherwise they performed overly well in the offroad conditions I got them into. FYI I'm running a 2.5" up front and a 2.2" out back.

problem is im running 24 inch wheels right now so its really hard to get good tires for it. (the bike is kona stuff jr) and the dimensions are 24 x 1.9 on both rims so its a little tricky to find good tires

PWRDbyTRD 04-12-05 01:35 PM

hmm...so right now you're running 24x1.9" tires? My bike came with 2.1's but I've gone all the way down to 1.5" and all the way up to 2.5"

Maxxis holy rollers or high rollers.

The rims i have are 24x 1.9 ill see what I can find about the dimensions of the tire i forgot what they are.

your only issue then will be stays and fork clearance for the tires you choose.

is there a limit on the width of the tire i can put on 1.9 rims? BTW i found out my tires are 24x 1.95

Where are you getting the width of your rim, I think you're mistaking the width of your tires for your rims, the width of your tires should be on the side of the tire, like in this pic.

see how it says 26x1.95? That's the tire width.

How about Moab/sand tyres?

Edit: actually I was asking about them, distractedly, and not answering. I'll open another thread for this as it is off-topic. Thanks.

you could get a kenda blugroove front and a nevegal rear they come in 24s. i think ive rode in any condition you can(snow ice mud gravel hardpack and sand )and so far theyve performed really well in everything. they even suprised me in the sand. very good tires. the 24s only come in 2.5 so i dont know if they will fit...

KonaMtBker275 04-12-05 05:46 PM

Arnt kendas a knock off of another brand or something?

snoopz666 04-12-05 05:55 PM

NO the nevegals where rated the number one tire of 2004 by MBA magazine

PWRDbyTRD 04-12-05 05:57 PM

KonaMtBker275 04-12-05 06:00 PM

Yeah I like the Blue Groove and the Nevegals but i highly doubt they will fit

snoopz666 04-12-05 06:13 PM

well take you bike down to the lbs ask them to put them on to see if they rub then if do find another tire that fits(although i dont know if this will work since you will probobly have to order it ) gl with your search anyway

KonaMtBker275 04-12-05 06:15 PM

yeah we went to 2 bike shops one of them had two low quality tires that didint even match and then the other one didint have anything. Are specialized tires very good?

phantomcow2 04-12-05 06:19 PM

KonaMtBker275 04-12-05 07:00 PM

Which Rithcey tires? I own the Ritchey elevader for the rear. Ritchey excavader for the front and RItchey tom slicks for the road.
Here is where i got the Elevaders.

KonaMtBker275 04-12-05 07:04 PM

Dannihilator 04-12-05 07:07 PM

Ok, you can get away with Maxxis HighRollers 24x2.5 they measure out to be about 2.35 in reality.
