Bike Forums - Dumb Accident

Okay I have just experiened a quite humiliating accident. I was at my house on my porch about to ride down the stairs. (Only about 5 stairs high) The porch I'm on is about 10. ft wide and comes out from the dorr about 8 ft. so you can get a general picture of the size. Anyway, I get on top of the porch and am slowly backing up to give myself room to ride a few feet before the stairs. As I'm backing up I look behind me and see that I have about anther 10 or so inches before the edge. (You might know where this is going by now... :D ) As I back up, I don't realize how far I had gone the next half step, and as I back up I look at the stairs and.............KERPLUNK!!......my rear tire falls off the edge and I go flying backwards off the porch. I don't know exactly what happend, but I think I flew my hands back and hit a branch of a tree that we have next to the porch.

Anyways, I hit the ground and as I lay there I think I'm alright. I get up and go to pick up my bike to make sure it was alright, when I noticed a large red line running off my hand. I look at my forearm and notice a large gash across it. I guess when I hit the tree is when it got cut. Anyways, to make a long story short, I had to get 8 stitches in my forearm.

Man I wished I had a camera or a camcorder at the time..... :D
