Total Noob Question- Bash Guard + Shifter
So I am going from a triple in front to a double with a bash guard. What (if anything) do I have to do to prevent my front derailleur from trying to shift onto the bash guard. Is this is a problem? I know the obvious answer is "don't shift there", but sometime in the heat of the moment it will happen.
Does anybody make a twist shifter compatable with just a double up front? Could I use a road bike double (Sora, 105) for the front derailleur? What has everybody else done?

worst case get a double shifter for the front, I don't know if you could adjust your limit screw to not go up to the top ring, but I'm sure you could try.

Adjust the screw so it's really hard for the deralleur to pull the chain up past 2.

i dont think shifting into the bash will hurt anything, so dont worry, worst case your chain falls off

It can be done. But you need quite a large bashguard and long chainring bolts.
