MO Rock Island Trail - P-Hill trailhead loc'n here

In case anyone is having difficulty finding either of the two trailheads at Pleasant Hill, here are the locations.

One is close to downtown PH, at the Cass County Fairgrounds. If you park here, you have to ride on city streets for a bit, on and off, until you eventually get on the main trail. No big deal, but it is a mite confusing if you aren't familiar with the area. There were some roadside signs, and still are, but a few of them have fallen down or been taken down, so you have to pay attention a bit if you access the trail here.

The other PH access point is off Purvis road, about a mile south on Purvis off of Highway 58 east of PH. It is roughly a 3 mile bike ride from the fairgrounds trailhead to the Purvis Road trailhead.

By the way, if it is wet/damp, I've noticed that the segment from the fairgrounds to Purvis is usually muddier than the trail east of Purvis. Not sure why, but the trail seems to dry out better east of Purvis road than it does toward PH. Just an FYI if you're riding on a day where it isn't perfectly dry.

From P-Hill you can ride roughly 46 miles to Windsor to hook up with the Katy.

If you find yourself in need of a bike shop, there is a small one in Pleasant Hill. New Town Bicycle and Coffee shop on Wyoming St.

Having the RIT open in PH is a pretty big deal. Kansas Citians used to have to drive quite a distance to pick up the Katy in Clinton. Pleasant Hill is a pretty short hop from Lee's Summit on the SE corner of the KC metro. I think the trail will really see a huge increase in ridership if they can get it open to Lee's Summit, which is basically the edge of the metro area.
