Moving to Wheat Ridge, CO

I'm moving to Wheat Ridge tomorrow and was wondering if there were any other folks here on BF in the area? It would be great to have some riding partners there.

I'm in Thornton but ride through your area from time to time. It has been a few months since I took my son on a 50 mile jaunt connecting with the platte trail to clear creek into Golden. I think bmclaughlin is very close to you.

Thornton! Woo hoo! Someday we should meet up.
I did ride to wagon road this morning using my MTB. Egads that was tiring.

I hate snow! Not snowy. Just regular old snow.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I can't wait to meet everyone.

I'm sick of the snow too! Guess I'll stick to my snowshoes. I may even try my back country skis agn. (broke rib the last time I was on them. :O )

I have my ice bike ready to go. Now I just need the motivation to ride that 50lb monster!

You and me both. I was going to ride it this morning to the bus but decided to take a different bus from outside my home. Then hit the gym after work.
I'm going stir crazy.
If this continues much longer, I am pondering visiting excel sports in boulder and picking up a set of 700C studded tires. My MTB is such a POS and I do not have the $$ to replace it.
Lately it feels like I have moved to Minnesota.

Do you guys use trainers or do spin classes to stay in shape during the winter months?

I'm just stewing in my own annoyance. Last winter was very mild and I missed maybe 1 week.
Rollers may be in the forecast.
My rec center has spin classes. Like superdex I have yet to attend but I usually grab a stationary bike and spin away. 30 minutes of high intensity spinning kicks my rear.

I go to the gym. Have a trainer at home but I'm never excited about using them I just want to get out and ride.
So I'll just stick to going to the gym until this freeze/snow lets up.

I'm over in Stapleton (not my choice!) and I still consider myself new to Denver. Looking forward to some serious snow & ice meltage ASAP. Haven't been on the bike in months, but looking forward to putting an end to my cabin fever w/ some nice rides.

I moved from New England to SoCal in '05 to get away from cold and snow. My GF (originally from Colorado) told me that winters were mild and dry in Denver, so we moved. The thing is, back in New England, they're getting record high temps and no snow . Even still, at least the sun comes out here and even though this is snowy winter by Denver standards, it's still better than a typical winter in New England.

I have a trainer and rollers. I REALLY need to start using them one of these days. My last ride was over Christmas down in San Antonio. Starting to think I should have stayed there.

I've actually thought that as well. I'm NOT joking either. It's my 1st winter here and according to my gf's dad, it's easily been one of the snowiest in the past 25-30 years .

Excellent! Are there decent rides right outside your front door or do you usually drive somewhere first? My bikes should be tuned and ready to go in about a week. Wish I could say the same for myself as I've been off the bike for about 4 months, but I'm more than willing to team up for a good 20-40 mile ride in as soon as the roads improve.

Same here. I hate rollers and the trainer even more, but once we move out of our 1 bedroom apartment and into a bigger place at the end of the month, then I'll probably start using the rollers a bit.

I've never been to San Antonio, but it seems a tad hot. I think that will be at least a few nice days in February and things will be fine by mid-March *crosses fingers*.

How did the move go Zin? I just moved into my house in Thornton (from Denver) and I don't think I will ever get unpacked.

celticfrost - Well, this time of year San Antonio is WONDERFUL! I wouldn't want to be there in the summer, however...

Pwnt - Thanks for asking! The move went well. I didn't have any furniture to move, so was actually quite easy. I live very minimalist right now. Once I manage to get a job, I'll get some furniture.

The front range has a lot of trails.
The best PDF maps I've seen are from the Denver Regional Council of Governments.
https://www.drcog.org/index.cfm?page=...ilityInventory

Trail Central has a lot of trails also, mostly mountain bike (many metro trails are mine).
https://trailcentral.com

I have a couple websites that have gps uploadable tracks for over 800 miles of trails from Longmont to Castlewood Canyon State Park.
Original site: https://home.earthlink.net/~gps_dr
Newer site: https://groups.msn.com/GeoBikingDenver

And most recently I've added one that will replace the first after I work out issues uploading images.
https://geobiking.org
Links on my sites link to a site containing slideshows of pictures from along some of the trails.
https://gps-dr.spaces.live.com/
Click on far right icon by the photos for larger pictures.

Enjoy
