Cables And Chain
And she's done!
Here's my story. Last year a few of my Karate friends and I decided to start getting together and riding to supplement our running. We would ride what ever we had available, mountain bikes, bmx bikes, you name it, we were riding it. Well as our group started to widdle down, we started to get down to the real hard core group (IMO) of riders. Cranking 50-60 mile rides, 3 and 4 times a week. I was loving it.
After talking with a few of the "hard core" I found out they were roadies at heart. As luck would have it, my brother had an older Raleigh that he let me borrow. I rode that thing everywhere for the rest of the summer. But as much fun as it was,the bike was old and TOO BIG. I had the seat pretty much slammed to the frame and was still reaching. Short arms and legs, all torso. Something about a 5'9" guy on a 57cm frame that just isn't right!
So in october I headed to the VeloSwap to find a smaller frame to build. I ended up with a Morgul Bismark Zinger frame (55.5) with a set of carbon forks for 80 bucks. SCORE! With a limited budget I have been piecing it together for the last few months, only thing left is to get it cabled and tuned.
I'm sooo Jazzed.

So in october I headed to the VeloSwap to find a smaller frame to build. I ended up with a Morgul Bismark Zinger frame (55.5) with a set of carbon forks for 80 bucks. SCORE! With a limited budget I have been piecing it together for the last few months, only thing left is to get it cabled and tuned.
I'm sooo Jazzed.

I started commuting on my old huffy mountain bike May or June of 05 when my wife wrecked my car. Well.. it was not her fault. Some moron ran into her doing 40 mph while she was stopped waiting for a pedestrian to cross the street she was turning into. Fortunately, my ability to install a car seat saved my son from any harm. My wife had a bit of whiplash.
Anyhow, I was over 200 lbs riding 8 miles a day on a worthless bike. Eventually, I purchased a hybrid and bumped up to a 30 mile RT. 6 months later that bike fell apart and I returned it to REI. Lovely return policy. I used the money to purchase my touring bike and started riding 45 miles RT. Of course, that is when there is not a boat load of ice and snow on the ground. I am currently building up a normal road bike. So far I have my wheels.
Woo hoo! Now if I can ever decide upon a frame.

Like DataJunkie, when the doc told me to ride I pulled out the Huffy, I rode it hard for 15 years, new chains, seats, wheel bearings, crank bearings, tires, a zillion tubes and never one problem with the shifters or the pedals. Only comments I ever got were, "Why did you put huffy stickers and a kick stand on it?",, I had it at a bike dealer once, he told me "That aint no Huffy." I told him I swear I bought it at Shopko.

That was the one and only Huffy I ever saw that the shifters even worked on, it was a freak Huffy.
My sons buddy took the kick stand and put it on his Haro, he even tried to get Huffy stickers, one thing for sure, the bike was never stolen.
No thanks to my spendy money wife I was 47 years old when I finaly discovered real bicycles, No more huffys for me.
