Boulder/Louisville CO area cycling teams

Hey,

Moving to Coloardo in 3 weeks, trying to find a good team to join. I race Cat 4 both track, and road. I race for NEBC here in MA, whats a strong team close to Louisville/Boulder area?

Thanks

Cabinet -

Welcome to CO! I live in Erie, which is 10 or so miles east of Boulder and even closer to Louisville. There are quite a few teams in the area. Almost all racing in CO is run by the American Cycling Association http://www.americancycling.org/ and you can get a lot of information on their site. Racing here is very competitive and the scene is active, with races almost every weekend day during the season.

I race Cat 4/Cat 4 35 + with a team call Echelon Spokes and Slopes based out of Lafayette (a town right next to Lousiville). Their web site is http://echelonspokesandslopes.com/. I'd recommend that team, but I'm biased.

PM me if you want more details.

Blue Sky Velo in Longmont, CO

Blue Sky Velo is the to team to join- I'm biased as well. Go to blueskyvelo.com. The owner of Blue Sky Cycles, our title sponsor, is pictured on the homepage. He's out in CA now doing neutral support for the Tour of CA.

We've got serious and seriously good Cat3 and Cat4 racers, mountain bikers, and CX guys and girls. However, there's also a club team as well as race team for those not as serious. Longmont is 10 miles up the road from Boulder.

Correct me if this has changed, but the nearest velodrome is in Colorado Springs. It is a seasonal track since it is an outdoor track. It was built in the early eighties for the Olympic Training Center before the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984, and at the time it was as smooth as a baby's butt, and really fast because it sits at 6000 ft elevation. Lot's of Boulder riders come to ride here, so car pooling is always a good idea.
