COS: Has everyone seen the new NEWSPEAK bike edition?
has anyone picked up NEWSPEAK's bike edition yet? there is an interview with brian gravestock from brian's bikes that is pretty much the best thing ever. also an interview with eric baar, of ground up designs.

Yeah and I rather liked the cover design. the lady on the bike could be a possible tattoo in the future should I want any more beside what I have planned for.

I found my copy at a persian resturant in downtown. Just look around and you may find it. I've never really noticed newspeak until I saw that issues. I just might start reading these issues from now on

oh, isotopesope; I wonder, would it be possible to post a picture of that image without all of the background noise here? that way I can print it out and when I finally have some extra cash for the tattoo, I could have a very clear picture of it for best references.

heyduke,
you can pick up copies at many downtown businesses. i know poor richards has some for sure. brian's bikes, old town bike shop, kimball's, are other businesses with some as well. it came out the first of this month, but i dragged my butt posting anything in here sooner.
curiouswill,
i'll attach a jpeg of the original stencil for you.
we're also organizing a bike race and bike scavenger hunt on oct. 28th. the race will be a poker run and a checkpoint race with goofy stuff at the four checkpoints... we were hesitant to call it an alleycat because messenger culture is lame and we didn't want anyone to feel discluded or give the wrong idea. the meeting place is at ******** the paint on patriotism park at noon. the race will be first, then the scavenger hunt after.

I don't know if I could get my road bike fixed before the ride on oct 28th but I kinda doubt it since it will be dependent on how much the Voc-Rehab will pay to repair my bike. (I'm currently looking for a job and can't afford the repairs by myself). But I may come by if I have nothing else to do that day, if only to meet other cyclist, check out their bikes and have fun with them.

Awesome thanks for the jpeg. (I hope you don't mind but I've edited the image some to remove the round stars) I love the image, it seems to me to symbolize freedom to reach as high (emotionally or ambitiously) as you can on bike.

if you can't race or hunt due to a non-running bike, definitely come by if you get a chance. we could probably use some help and it would be a great way for you to meet some fellow cyclists!
have you ever attended the bike pub crawl? it's every thursday evening. people typically meet around 9ish at wooglin's deli, then hit various bars downtown. there are lots of non drinkers that show up as well, if booze isn't your thing.

Yeah I agree that events could be a great way to meet cyclists. I've gone to the CSCC meeting and had a whole lot of fun despite not being able to join their group rides yet.
I may just check out that pub crawl once my bike is fixed since there are non-drinkers

I think you will find that most group cues are visual not verbal
pointing at the glass in the road, pointing at potholes, waving hands downward when there is gravel
dropping at hand to show slowing/ stoping

oh, well being deafs natually make me assumes that I should watch out for any and all possible verbal cues lol. I know what you means, I just wonders about these thing since I hears all of the time how social and loud group rides can be.
