Advice for visiting Colorado during March

Hello -- I have a break in my school schedule from March 16th - 22nd and have been thinking about possible biking trips to take. For mountain biking, I have always been told to go to Fruita but I have gotten some recommendations for Crested Butte. I know that there is actual elevation there (compared to the Midwest) and that sometimes there are issues with snow closing roads.

I tried looking up the normal weather forecast for the area and it said Fruita is between 40-50F during that time of the year. I was just looking for any advice or problems I might run into. I'm hoping to bring my road bike to so if you have any info on terrific rides, please let me know! thanks for any advice.

That is typically our snowiest month. While I have no clue regarding those areas, you should plan accordingly.

I wouldn't count on riding in cb until june. You can ride in gunnison (south of cb) hartman rocks. If it is a dry year. Fruita would be fine in march, although cold in the evening. Hit or miss with rain. Also think about jefferson county outside of denver, that can be hit or miss with the weather or snow pack. But it offers some great riding right next to denver. Look for a jefferson county open space web site, that may give you an idea of how much great riding is located around denver. As it was just said, march is the snowiest month in colo. So keep that in mind

Consider Moab Utah as well--usually a little warmer and dryer than Fruita

Fruita is a place to definitely consider, you not going to be able to ride Crested Butte in March. Unless we for some crazy reason do receive any snow fall.

You could look into riding the front range but that also depends if we have a wet March or not. Either way, I would think your best bet is going to be Fruita.
