Colorado Springs Rides

I'll be out in the Springs for the week of 27 April to 2 May. Any good road rides going on in the vicinity during that time frame that would make bringing the bike worthwhile?

Here's a place to look drew55.

I'd volunteer to ride with you but will be out of town myself.

Garden of the Gods

Curiouswill 04-22-08 09:46 AM

Oh yeah, if you can handle hills, you have to try out garden of god! I somewhat hates hills like garden of god have but man, the scenery there is nice enough to make me want to go there everyday despite the hills :) (just can't get there everyday for various reasons :( )

i would like to join you but I had not ridden my bike for a few months since I ran out of money to fix up my bike. So once I get my bike fixed this week, i'll be too out of shape to keep up with most cyclist for a few weeks lol. I'll probably try to tackle the garden of god anyway! (with an ample supply of water though)

Going to try and join up with the CSCC at least for their dinner ride on 4.28 - we'll see how that works out. Have to see if my lungs can handle the few thousand foot difference in elevation before I try Garden of the Gods and serious hills.

There is a moderate group ride on Wednesday evening from Downtown. I should be joining too. I'll get the time and post it later.

If you are military you could probably rent a bike from the HAWC on Peterson AFB...

drew55, old town is a downtown bike shop on tejon and cimmaron. everyone typically meets around back at the back entrance. the ride departs at 6. see you there?

Was there and thanks to Andy, Mick had something come up, had a ride as well. Just forgot that everything's not as flat, nor is there nearly the amount of 02 in the air sucked in. Started out with the crowd, but my lungs were still way too used to air at 5-25 feet above sea level, and legs used to a bridge now and again on a causeway out to the barrier islands or across the bay. Still had an outstanding time and am amazed at the welcoming and acceptance of someone unknown. Ended up doing a pair of loops around Cimarron to Tejon up to the college and back down Wahsatch - Wish there were streets and residential sections like those in Tampa. By the way, should any of you folks find yourselves in FL and looking for a ride - give a shout. Next time i'm out this way, I'll have to see if the company will understand me needing to ship my bike out with me.

:-)

Oh well....but no, I'd not of hated anyone...my lungs on the other side probably would have been left somewhere along the way. They were screaming when I stopped trying to keep up with you folks - still Great ride and glad to be accepted sight un seen with a group of good riders.
