More Speed Traps on Lookout Mountain

Hi there:

Last month, I posted that I got hit by RADAR twice on Lookout Mountain in Golden, but not ticketed. Today, they were ticketing cyclists for speeding. I saw it on my way up, and it looked like the cyclist was getting a written summons. Not sure if it was a warning, or a full ticket, but be careful there.

I can (kind of) see why they are doing this. I counted cyclists I saw on the way up vs cars, and we are outnumbering cars 3:1 on weekends (at least for my sample time).

I warned several descending cyclists, but I am not sure that any could actually hear me. The speed trap was gone by the time we came back down, but we rode another twenty miles or so on the other side of the mountain.

Thanks for the heads-up. I headed up at ~5pm today and saw a squad car making it's way down. It wasn't waiting for me (or any other speed limit breaking hooligans) on my descent, but yeah, it looks like they've stepped-up their presence on Lookout.

I usually keep it to 30 or under, way under in the switchbacks. That is still 10 MPH over the speed limit though. I regularly get passed by people who must be doing 50.

Why would cops want to stop Darwinism in action?

I once saw this idiot cranking through one of the switchbacks, just flying, no helmet, CSC full kit, sweet Cervelo bike, ooops, "Hi Tyler." Didn't even stop and chat, sooo rude.
