murphysboro to st louis?
two friends and myself are on the transamerica trail right now, but breaking off to head onto the lewis and clark route in hartford illinois. we're looking for a good, safe route to get us into st louis. i heard that highway three along the missouri river is good, can anyone confirm this? also, is there a safe bridge to get across the missouri river? thanks

Head staight South from Harford. There should be bike path/trail that parallels Rt.3. Take it down to W. Chain of Rocks Rd and hang a right. It will take you over the Chain of Rocks bike/ped bridge. You can then catch the St.L Riverfront Trail and take it (no worries) all the way downtown. You'll have bird's eye views of Ole' Miss. Watch for mud that may not have been cleaned off the trail from recent flooding.
Good luck to ya!
