Durango, CO

How's life for a cyclist in Durango? I'm more of a roadie and a commuter, but I could see myself getting into MTBs if there are lots of good trails nearby.

How are the drivers? How are the roads? Are there any good climbs nearby? Any information you can provide would be appreciated.
