Denver Bike Rentals?

Hey all,

So, me and the lady are flying out to Denver in a month or so to look at neighborhoods and talk with some landlords about apartments and such.

We want to rent bikes and fred around.

Anyone have a good recommendation for a cheap, friendly bike rental? Or, if you're OK with complete strangers-soon-to-be-neighbors borrowing bikes, I ride a 47cm road bike, and she's best fit to a 16" mtn bike frame.

We'll be looking at Capitol Hill, but recommendations are welcome! We like green neighborhoods, old houses, easy access to theaters, bars, etc. Sure, it should be safe, but we're coming from Detroit so we have probably dealt and been OK with worse.

Update: Opinions on Cherry Creek Bike Rack or Bike Dr's rentals? Ideally it would be near to where we are staying in Cap Hill.

Cherry Creek Bike Rack has a good reputation, largely because they offer free bike parking. Since this is home, never rent bikes here, so that is about all I have.

On neighborhoods, what type of housing are you looking for? Duplex, high rise, small building?

hah, yeah good point about not really noticing rentals when it's your home. I guess I wouldn't have many suggestions if the shoe was on the other foot.

We're mainly looking for small buildings and houses kind of place. I hear that near Cheesman (cheese-man? or chess-man?!) is like this.

Cheesman has some of that. They also have more highrises than other neighborhoods because of the ones around the park. Check out this map.

You want to stay on the east side if you are commuting to Aurora. Congress Park and City Park would also be good choices. I live in South City Park and like it a lot.

Awesome map! That should help in the Craigslist searching.

I have seen a lot about "low" vacancy rates, but the Craigslist would indicate otherwise! Not to mention the prices are almost comparable with cheap Detroit living! Eh!?
