Yeah - I'm going to try to get a map and go earlier. I'm not doing the race/points/timing/sign-off-card part - just not into it.

Or maybe I'll just get the map and do it a different day, then I can do the BF ride this thread is about instead!

I am going to try to make it on the 17th, if my wife is up for it. Need to spend the day together, since I am out of town this whole week.

Well, this isn't looking good for me. I picked up some nasty virus in my travels this week and 50/50 on riding tomorrow. If I do, I will probably sleep in first and then drive to Golden for a start.

Most of us have not ridden together before. Your guess is as good as mine.
Pwnt is a ferocious sprinter. Valygrl eats mountains and long distance rides like candy.
Darkstar is a climber from hell. I have no idea what I am good at. lol
Usually no matter the size of the group you have speed demons and not so speedy riders. You regroup periodically and\or send the fast riders back to sweep everyone up.

I absolutely suck at climbing, so if your worried about being last, I already have that position. I think second to last is still available if you want it.

Haven't done much climbing since I've been in Denver (stupid, stupid- when there is climbing to be had here!) but, I'm kind of a wussy- chances are I'll to be found in the back of the crowd.

Remember, we're all 5-10% faster on BF than the road.

What does that say for the sandbaggers on BF?
I for one do suck. However, I have been sick for over a month.

Just remember, liking it and being good at it are different things. I am slow...

So did you all ride?

I slept in and then rode Juniper Pass. Lots of fun while getting over a cold.

Well, I go so slow up hill that it's a true miracle that I can stay upright.

I tried to ride to Golden and do Lookout today but ended up with a pounding headache around Wads and Clear Creek Trail that would not let up. Water, protien and caffiene once I got to Golden helped for a bit but I decided to head back home rather than tackle the big hill. It was still pounding when I got home. Round trip was 52 miles, 3/4 of that with my head pounding. Yuck.

I average 15mph most of the time. I'd love to ride along with folks but don't want to hold the group up!

I did Lookout today. Oddly enough, I actually passed a few people on the way up.

The group ride is on the 31st. I had a recovery ride yesterday of 19 almost flat miles.

Ok, I've really lost touch in my travels. I thought it was yesterday.

Glad I didn't go!

BTW, if anyone rides Juniper Pass, there are some killer new pot holes on the road. Be really careful coming down.

Last time I road it, every pothole was outlined in orange paint, which was *very* handy.
Are the new ones marked yet?

THIS IS A "NO DROP" RIDE.

Please do not have any concerns about holding the group up. There will be plenty of stopping, chatting, just having a good time. This our chance to meet the people we have know for year but never met. Then, at the end, you can say I knew I didnt like that guy for some reason.....now I know why!

Even though this is a no drop ride there will be times ataken, random sprints with equally random points distributed to me, and no matter where I finish I win.

j/k

I am just as slow and old on bike forum as I am in real life.

I rode 35 miles with 4,500' of climbing after work today. I could not believe the time when I finished. I think I cycled into a worm hole or something. How else could it have taken so long?
