More Sheriff Shenanigans in Colorado

For those following the drama in Boulder County, here is another article on Joe Pelle and his crusade against cyclists.

Joe Pelle is 1. Wrong and obviously has no real idea of what happens outside of his office, and 2. hopefully will not be re-elected in such a beautiful and mostly cycling friendly county.

Oops forgot one other thing, Pelle states that "...the law would make cyclists virtually immune to prosecution." This is a call he can't make really, he's just blowing more hot air. If he would bother to make sure that Deputies are knowledgeable in the law, they can then make good decisions in writing a summons if necessary. The DA is the one that has to worry about any prosecutorial discretion in all cases. One other thing too, in all honesty it's about time we started seeing some laws like this, I know that in some countries any accident between a car and a cyclist results in the driver of the vehicle automatically being ticketed. The driver then has to show that the cyclist was at fault.

I am sure they are best friends. Seem to have the same attitude about cyclists.

Honestly... other than the three foot rule, I don't see ANYTHING in that bill that's actually new... It maybe makes the wording a little more clear, but everything is already part of Colorado law.

We have a lot of stupid law enforcement officers.

god theres really nothing quite as entertaining/depressing as the people who come out of the woodwork to post comments on stories in the local paper.

Yeah, he's already spouted off. He seems to think that his deputies time will filled with measuring the exact distance between cars and bikes.

Pelle said, "my issues (with the bill) are resolved. I apologize for any confusion."
