Did you enjoy the wind today in Denver?

One of my slowest rides ever - and I am a champion at slow rides.

Grrrr....
Attempted my usual 30-miler, but got really sick of doing 5mph against a 40mph quartering headwind.
On the bright side, after giving up and turning around, I hit 53mph Eastbound on 128 by Rky Mtn Metro Airport.

I couldn't even *drive* a straight line, I was too scared to get out on the bike!

Ride to Golden was pretty silly. Lookout wasn't too bad surprisingly.

When we moved to Parker 9.5 years ago (near E470 and Jordan, right on the CC Trail), from near Holly and Orchard in Centennial, we found a noticeable increase in the amount of wind as I cross the divide between Cherry Creek drainage and Platte River drainage.

We are now at almost 6,000 feet - but more importantly,I think, we are in the Cherry Creek drainage (instead of the Platte), further from the mountains and we feel a bit more exposed. I still notice the difference when riding from Parker towards town on the E470 trail - a decrease in wind.

Generally, unless a storm is approaching - as I head south (and up) towards Franktown - I can count on a downslope south wind in the morning and an upslope north wind on the return later in the day.

Wind is a problem southern Co as well. Near Beulah we had 50 mph gusts and almost lost it on my recumbent on sat and sunday. This am it has been 30 gusting to 45 and is supposed to get worse. I need my ride fix./\\

I thought the wind was bad on Friday the 2nd. At one point as I was heading towards the Wind Lab on my way to HW 93, I was going 12 miles per hour, down hill, pedaling! I'm a wimp, so I rode the trainer on the 3rd! Yesterday was much nicer!!!

Group ride up Highway 40 to Evergreen was a real treat on Saturday. The wind was sort of a pain, but being pelted by rocks was the worst part.
