Come cruise at the Crested Butte Chainless World Championships!

It's that time of year again! This year's Chainless World Championship race (formerly the Kebler Pass Infamous Chainless Race) is coming up. One of the Crested Butte Fat Tire Bike Week's premier events, the Chainless will be held on Friday, June 25th at 4PM. You can register for the event on Wednesday, June 23rd at the Brick Oven Pizzeria on Elk Avenue at 7:30 during a special Chainless trivia night and also on the morning of Friday, June 25th at the Brick, all for a new low fee of $10. Prizes, schwag, and free beer will follow the race.

Make sure to check us out on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Cre...05659272804990) for updates on the race as well as at the Crested Butte Fat Tire Bike Week website at http://www.ftbw.com/chainless.

Here's a few quick things to keep in mind about this year's race.

No Registration = No Race
We want everyone to register this year and sign our super-awesome legal waiver, which makes a lot of people happier with this event. If you don't register, you don't race. And if people gate-crash, we might not get a chance to race next year. Lame. Like Spike Lee says, “Do the right thing.”
Heck, we'll make it easy. You can register beforehand at Brick during a special trivia night on Wednesday, June 23 from 7:30 until it's over. You can also Register the morning of the Chainless, Friday, June 25 at the Brick. By registering you'll not only keep the Chainless going, you'll get stuff like free beer at the after-party, schwag from our sponsors, and a warm, fuzzy feeling. All for ten bucks. That's right. $10.

Wear a Helmet
Your dome is pretty important. So cover it up. You can wear a moto helmet, a full-face ski lid, a construction hard-hat, or a full-contact battle re-enactment beast. Just put one on and finish with it.

Cruisin' and Boozin'

The law considers drinking and biking as drinking and driving. That means if you get caught doing it, you could be in trouble. So be smart. Be discrete. An open container of beer is awfully easy to spot from far away, just like your friends can spot you from far away. But if you're in costume, that makes if harder for your friends to spot you. So dress up, and don't forget that costuming can extend to all sorts of accessories as well.

Only Professionals on this Closed Course
This year Kebler will be closed for the Chainless, which means no more worrying about cars coming up fast from behind. Ballin'! It also means that you'll need a catch a ride on the Chainless Race Party Bus and pimped out bike trailer. Sign up, sit back, sip a...soft drink.

Post-Race Party Time

If you race, we'll give you free beer from New Belgium. Just make sure that when you register you keep your Chainless Racer ID so you can prove that you deserve a beer. 7 miles of dust can make you pretty thirsty.

See you there!
