Kansas City/Overland Park

Hello,
In town for a week so was wondering if someone could clue me in where the good bike paths are around here? Not talking mud. All for a good workout though. Also a good bike shop would be nice too as I need to stock up on supplies. I am close to Oak Park Mall. Thanks.

I lived in KC this summer and there are some great paths north of the city towards a small farm town called Weston. Don't know if you can make it up there, but it's a great place to ride in the country!

Thanks for the info, but I think it is a little far me to do Weston right now as I can't get lost in the day. Must be back by three to welcome kiddos off the bus. I'll come back with the wife and do the Weston run next year. I just need something in town for now that I can do a quick 3 hours or less.

A bit late, but there are 3 major MUPs criscrossing that part of JoCo.

The first runs from the Wyandotte county line sounth, thru Shawnee Mission Park deep into Olathe - about 18 miles.

The other is Indian Creek which runs East West (NE-SW, actually) from around 151st in Olathe up thru Corporate Woods to Stateline. There a Missouri greenway connects and runs 5-6 miles into KC, MO. This part is being extended a bit each year (eventually to link up with the Katy, I think). Around 20-23 miles total. You can actually jump from one to the other at the south end with most of the 2-3 miles being via a dedicated bike lane on street.

Then there is Tomahawk which runs from the Row/Stateline area in Leawood where it connects with Indian Creek, south to 133rd in Olathe. You can jump from here to the south end of Indian Creek via 133rd as well. There is one section where you need to get off and go 2-3 blocks and cross a street to actually connect with IC at Nall.

Maps available here.
