It's something I've thought about doing almost every year, but then I usually opt to go to Moab a week or two after Skinny Tire -- you still beat the tourist rush, hotels can still (usually) be had for cheap, avg temps warm a few degrees or more and you don't have to pay any fees (unless you ride into Arches, which is entirely worth it). The weekend of 3/21 seems pretty good this year.

But, if you're going be part of the Festival then I guess my above points are kind of moot.

Exactly, there are 500 or so riders and it's a nice party. Make some friends, group rides and events are fun and enjoy the support of the festival during the rides. I've met some really good friends at STF, and see them there every year.
But, you are right, spring is a great time in Moab.

I am considering going to the festival, but I can't figure out the logistics involved. How much of a hassle is it to fly into CNY or GJT? How about renting a car and bike at either location? Any public transportation options to get to the festival from the airports?

Best option may be to fly into Salt Lake City. There is a shuttle bus from SLC airport to Moab, also plenty of cars to rent. Delta hub in SLC, so, many flights in and out. Send a note to info@skinnytireevents.com for details on travel options. Good bike rentals at Poison Spider Bike Shop in Moab, reserve early.

Isn't SLC over 4 hours away? I have no problems biking for hours, but I have little interest driving that distance.

Yep, no major airports near Moab -- which is part of it's charm. If it were easier to get to, it'd be easier to get to but also probably not as nice to visit.

It's about a 90 minute drive from GJ to Moab. You can rent a car in GJ, maybe a bike too. There is great road riding in GJ if you have the time to ride there too.
You might be able to fly into Montrose and drive to Moab from there through Naturita and La Sal. It's a couple hour drive but very pretty (and remote) country.
