riding Coal Creek and PtP -- anything I should know?
got the late-season, wanna see fall colors itch for an overnight CC tour. Something simple and not requiring 40lbs of gear.
Here's today's preoccupation: park at Rocky Flats (Coal Creek Canyon and Hwy 93 between Boulder and Golden). Ride to Estes Park via Coal Creek Canyon and Peak to Peak. Stay in Estes. Come back next day.
Anything I should be aware of on those roads? I've driven them so I have one perspective of what I'm in for, any insights from folks who've shared the road?
hi-ya... Roads are fine. Coal creek can sometimes be rednecky, Golden Gate is nicer but a harder climb. Peak leaves probably over. Estes was mayhem last weekend with the free-park-day, might be better now. sounds cold, but fun.

There is a document here: http://jeffco.us/transportation-and-...olume-program/
that shows traffic volume for various Jeffco roads
SH-72 W/O SH-93 in 2010 they showed 5,600 vehicles/day
GOLDEN GATE CANYON ROAD W/O SH-93 in 2012 they showed 3,800 vehicles/day
For comparison, they showed 1,800 vehicles per day on Lookout Mtn Rd.
