The Cause: This event is a fund raiser for the cycling team.
The Ride: 130 mi/9700 ft climbing. You will start at Western State College at 7am. The ride heads west to blue mesa dam (100mi ride starts soon after the dam) and you follow the oh so beautiful and smooth highway 92 along the north rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Then you will descend several thousand feet over the next 30-40 miles to the towns of Crawford and Paonia. The last 20 miles to Crested Butte are smooth dirt. That's right dirt. The finish is in downtown Crested Butte and lupper will be provided by Donita's Cantina. It will be timed with prizes for top finishers and raffle prizes.
What you get: waterbottle, something cool like a t-shirt but probably not a t-shirt, the usual stuff we can stuff in a bag when you arrive, lupper after the race and maybe some beer. It's even pretty cheap if you sign up early.
