I never buy any type of warranty extension. They sell them to make money. Thatís why every time you check out of Best Buy they spend more time selling warranty upgrades than anything else.

Last week I calculated my income from extended wheel warranty program and I found that I just about broke even. Thatís what I wanted Ė to give people an opportunity for insurance where the value was equal to the cost. The program is in place to sell more wheels, not to make money on the plan.

On a set of alloy wheels we cover you for anything (except theft) for two years for $45 for the set. Go into any bike shop and the cost of a rim only (without spokes or labor) is $60 or more (often much more), labor is normally $50+ and spokes will add another $30+.

Our costs are low because we buy the rims and spokes at below wholesale prices. Put it all together and our wheel protection programs are very smart investments. Very much unlike the extended warranties available from other companies.
