Request to break up Northeast Forum

I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, but is there any way the Northeast Region can be divided up into smaller regions? You have the most densely populated area of the US all squished into one forum. I feel like the regional discussions would be much more popular if you didn't have to sift through so many different areas before discovering a discussion you can relate to.

It has been asked before, to no avail. I asked years ago, for the same reasons. I have no interest in the Metro Boston area or where all the Maryland people are.

Baffles me as this is a section serving 60 million people, while you have Southwest that has maybe 3 million, with Texas, all of 28 million gets it's own section. Seems like some re-thinking is in order.

The flip side of this is that it's geographically compact, so a decent number of people visit and ride in the various cities within the region. I don't expect that many from DC would be in Boston all that often, or vice versa, but living close to the middle of the region, I'm interested in what's happening both to the north and south.

Maybe, instead of splitting the forum, we can encourage posters to list the metropolitan area in full caps as the first word of the title, ie. BOSTON -- big rally...., or NYC -- changes to bike lanes, etc.

That way we can scroll down the threads faster, looking at keywords by city.

But I do agree that there's an awful lot of people in the region, especially compared to others. (maybe we should be like others and feel insulted over being slighted this way ----- NO)

This forum may cover a large population, but there's not a lot of traffic. The first page goes all the way back to early July, and there's only a small handful of threads with any activity on a given day. Smaller forums would be even more dead. It's quick to scan for threads of interest, and I do occasionally read threads about places I don't usually ride. There's no reason to break up the forum unless the volume of posts becomes unwieldy.

The same GT Outpost Mountain bike I've been riding since 1996, although I modify it throughout the year for commuting, touring, and recreational riding.

I agree with FBinNY that the solution is to start the title of each new thread with the specific region it is geared toward. I try to start all my geographically-specific threads with "LONG ISLAND" or "MYSTIC CT AREA" or something to that effect, and I appreciate when others do that, too. As others have noted, this makes searching the threads a lot easier and more efficient.

Best thread in this section in a long time. How hard is it to look at the 3 or 4 active threads?
