NY state parks
Anyone know if entering a park on a bicycle will have to pay the vehicle entrance fee? Can't find anything other than cars paying.

Its all about the cruise
You should be fine. Fair Haven State Park you can ride right in. Plus most state parks do not charge admission after labor day. If the state park is on a water way and you arrive by boat they do not charge either

The local bike path thar runs from the south shore of Long Island to the north shore passes through Bethpage State Park. The path goes around the fee booth. I've ridden past it hundreds of times.
Another path runs past Jones Beast state park and there's no fee. The fee is a "parking" fee.

I've checked with park personnel. It's true for all NY state parks,no fee to enter on a bike.

Like EnjoyinTheRide said, most state parks don't charge after Labor Day. I like riding around Chenango Valley State Park in the off season. Roads are well maintained, and almost no traffic.

A few years ago, my son was returning from a group ride at Letchworth State Park near Geneseo, NY. The were doing about 30mph on the road leading to the park exit and it was dusk when suddenly a deer ran across the road. He missed it but the guy behind hit the second deer. The deer got up and stumbled into the woods. The cyclist had a broken wrist, collar bone and the carbon bike was in pieces.
Careful then riding near woods at dusk.

NY State parks only charge for parking not for entering the Parks.
Most if not all of the parks up here in my region of New York are still charging to park in their lots.

Thanks guys. I was thinking about next year. I'd like to ride through a park near me and wonder if they charge for it. Couldn't find anything about bikes.
