NYC riders, check in!

Whoa, just spotted these regional subforums. I know there's an army of us out there, let's hear from you.

Edit: duh, I should check in to my own thread. I live in Washington Heights, right by the GWB. Most of my in-season riding is out across the Bridge. When it's colder I'll ride in Central Park often (fewer people, much safer and more pleasant that way!).

Man, I'm so used to skipping the Riding Partners forum, I never even noticed til it was pointed out in Foo that it was replaced by this one. Hi, I'm Catch and I ride around the block because the tracking device on my ankle won't let me ride any further.

Up in the Bronx.

Commuting to Mid-town down the Eastside mostly and errands with general moseying about thrown in for good measure.

It's the best way to get around this town these days.

Nice location Oboeguy...

I live in Clinton Hill Brooklyn. If any of you ever see me in prospect park, I'm the lanky long haired guy trying to race on a silver specialized sequoia with a rack on it (ha), feel free to say hi.

Yo from Astoria.

I ride my pimped out, ancestral red Raleigh 3spd very slowly between Brooklyn and Queens, soon to other parts. No car. Other bikes in various stages of completion.

Biking in Astoria is fairly pleasant, but south of the Pulaski is filled with many "HOLY @#$%" moments. Getting used to it.

Live in Asswhoria, commute to Morris Park (with yeah all the general weekend trips to Manhattan and Brooklyn and one of these days... I swear... I'll visit my grandparents on LI's North Shore). Bald girl with a blue bag riding on the Triboro and in the South Bronx- say hello.

Oh yes, and to the hipper-than-thou guy riding a fixie and wearing sunglasses (on a cloudy day) who I saw turn onto Bruckner Blvd this morning from St. Ann's place, I am totally laughing at you. Riding on the sidewalk because you're scared to pass a delivery truck is lame. Also, that sidewalk is in terrible repair; it's way more dangerous than the road. (Witness, one split chin from the days before I knew better than to take it.)

11201 is where I start out. Where I wind up, up to the wind. You'll likely never see me in the park. I hate riding in the park. Makes me feel like a dog in a dog run. Likely I've been spotted by someone here on BF; we've probably shared a dirty look or choice word or two. I'm not as mean as I appear though... I'm like the nicest guy there is until you piss me off. A lot of other cyclists piss me off ...sometimes I think I prefer 'Cagers,' actually even though I'm close to murdering one of them at least once a day. There definitely should be less of both. (None of which I find here on BF!)

George Washington Bridge GWB

I've been away all summer, and was devestated to see that the South path of the George Washington Bridge is closed. Any idea when it is due to re-open? The stairs are the North side are no fun.

That pretty much sums it up.

Manhattan - near West Houston Street where it's FLAT.

Lots of riding on the Westside Waterfront Greenway. Sometimes I do Central Park (for the hills) but I don't actually like it.
