Brrrrrrrrr! No way! The breeze off of the water was cold--it actually felt really nice as I biked passed the taller buildings along the boardwalk. But, I have it on good authority that the water temp was very condusive to "shrinkage".

If I were to place blame, it would be on the state of Delaware for publishing a map showing bike access where there currently is none.

It looks like they are making the road wider (2 lanes each way), and in the future, perhaps rebuilding the bridge to accomodate the extra lanes.

Speaking of shrinkage NoRacer, I believe you've said you are either married or in a relationship but no kids, correct? Your wife/gf/so must be a saint to let you take off for rides that extend for not just hours but days!

She (gf) moved back in with her mother over a year ago.

I invited her out to OCMD, but she was too scared to drive from NoVA by herself.

Josh, apologies. I just now saw this.

I was down for the count after Sunday's ride from Ocean City and bike commuting to and from work all week, and then attempting a double century (200 miler) this past Saturday. Probably not enough rest in between last weekend and this past weekend. You can read about last Saturday's ride here:

https://NoRacer.bimjournals.com

Here's what the terrain looked like, but I had to shut the GPS off at mile 69 (...at the last green arrow. The GPS was set to record the route, not to inform me which way to go):

Here's the iBike data for 140 miles (of 200?) that I completed:

That ok, maybe another time. I saw that 200 mile BBC, I was thinking about it, but I don't think the wife would go for an all day ride,

I ended up on my new mountain bike , riding patapsco with the wife that was a lot of fun. Due to the kids we don't ride togther often, it was like old times.

I think I finally have the wife sold on that GT GTR PRO bike from performance, $1999 plus 10% off and 10% back in rewards. I rode a madone 4.5, tarmac and a fuji.

The gtr was so much lighter and nicer (17.4lbs)

I took pix at that event last year where we had CAT 5 Sr Men in the race. The pictures did not turn out due to the direction of the morning light from where I was standing.

Yes, if you purchase a 1 day license as well as pay for the event, you will be considered a CAT 5 Sr for the day.

If you do it, good luck. That hill is 18% in one section. Definitely try it before race day. Start at the bottom at Bonnie Branch Rd and ride all the way up to the school (which is on the left of the road).

On race day, the road will be closed to downhill traffic. You will be racing up the left lane of the road while the right lane may have traffic going up the hill.

.8 mile race!! Is that all they race? One time up Illchester? I've live in this neighborhood for over 25 years and never knew this. I knew they raced up Illchester but figured they kept on going. This is a strange race. Josh let us know if you race it. How many people race? Charlie

Here's the 2007 results, Charlie--you can see how many participated:

Remember, it a race, so... the winner is the fastest in whatever Cat or age group.

Hey folks: I'll be heading to Canada this Friday for 2 weeks
I hope to ride on La Route Verte, P'tit train du Nord, and Aerobic corridor and anything else I can find. See you in a few weeks, be safe out there. When I return we'll organize the bike and beer ride. Later, Charlie

Welcome, The best athletic change I ever made was to switch from running to bicycling. Less joint pain and you'll love the leg burn. Charlie

Welcome! Where in PG are you? I like this site a lot:

https://www.bikewashington.org

DC-focused, but it has some good info on Maryland stuff too.

Also, the Oxon Hill Bike Club site is good:

https://ohbike.org/

(I did their Indian Head 100 century ride a few years back; what a nice day on the bike! Very pretty, near-zero traffic, rolly enough to be interesting but no monster climbs to wear you out.)
