Well I bit the bullet and picked up the wifes bike yesterday, We managed to get in 10 miles with no rain on the BA trail today, nice out 60 degrees, shorts and jersey for me, that was plenty.
She was able to maintain 16-19 much longer than she could with the MTB, she's hoping to get some saddle time 30-60 minutes per day in. I had her promise she'll do the hill climb come august.
She's getting use to the shifters, big change from rapid fires for her. She did really good.
of course she took my fenders being the nice person she is, so I ended up with a nice wet stripe, Also riding behind her with fenders, I got plenty of water being splashed at me.

I got a couple of rides in today. Neither was very long--more of a sightseeing tour with my brother, him riding his mountain bike and me on this. Looks oddly familiar, as it has my lighting system on it, my saddle and an old saddle bag, my iBike, and my frame pump:
I only got in about 27 miles. My brother, Rick, only got in about 15, due to a flat tire out on the Texas A&M campus.
Check my BiM blog link in my sig for more about the rides.

Sorry to say, Isaias, you missed one of the best commuting days of the year yesterday.
35 deg. and pouring rain all day. Drivers acting like maniacs and accidents all over the place. Soaking wet socks, cold knuckles. If you had been around, I would've suggested we ride a century in it.

Harry or anyone for that matter want to MTB tommorow? Might be a little wet, only one way to find out, I'm still up for it if anyone else is.
If not anyone look to meet up and ride tomm (road)?

Josh-I think two days of steady rain will make those trails a bit soggy. I used to make a point of staying off the trails after rain, they get too torn up. Depending on the a.m temps and my eagerness to freeze my toes I may road ride up towards Loch Raven. Sunday looks warmer, Monday warmer still but I'm taking that day off to take my 4 year old down to DC.

No snow here, but I heard them talking about the possibility in McKinney when I was there.
Still, Corpus has not been as warm as I had expected. Today, for instance, it started at ~37 deg F and didn't hit 50 deg F until 10am. I would have like to have gotten started earlier on a century ride today, but couldn't, since I brought no cold weather clothing, not even arm warmers. That'll teach me.

Century ride--no it didn't happen--only 80 miles due to delays getting started.

Sat Ride:
Got the Mother inlaw to take the kids for about an hour, wife and I headed to Patapsco Valley Park get more miles on her bike, Again we got in 10 miles, parked @ the play ground and made a right toward the bridge, I was surprised of all the little hills there were, rode up the paved trail, swinging bridge and up to the park entrance. Wife even did sprinting up the hills (surprised me) Very surprise how she was ok with the temps 29 degrees. She was good the whole time except her face at first, she did end up wearing the balaclava that she swore she wouldn't.
Also she kept saying how her feet (when spinning fast) felt like they were coming off the pedals, She's open to clipless pedals now.
I started out with my leather gloves and got cold quick, put on the glove liners. By that time my fingers were already cold, in my experiance once my hands get cold there is very little I can do to get them warm, I even tried putting my foot warmers in my hands, Little help.
She'll make it out tonight for some miles after the ravens game as will I.
GO RAVENS!!!!!!

I stopped by Baltimore's newest bike shop today while I was biking home from doing some holiday shopping in Hampden. It's called Baltimore Bicycle Works, and it's on Falls Road right along the Jones Falls trail (just up the street from Velocipede). They've only been open for two days and they don't have a ton of stock. They carry Swobo bikes, they're planning on stocking another manufacturer, and they're going to be doing custom framebuilding! I didn't buy anything, but I talked to the guys working there for a bit and they seem really nice.
Anyway, I live in Bolton Hill so it's nice to have a full service bike shop so close. I usually go to Mt. Washington, but it's not all that convenient.

Welcome popsicle. Nice couple of bikes you got listed there. I'd been eyeing up the Gunnar Sport before I bought a Kogswell. Nice bikes.
I live in Hampden and I've cruised past the Bike Works store. Glad to know they're open. I'll stop in soon and say hi.

We was robbed
Those hills are a little stout in the park. Did you guys ride to the new bridge at Illchester. I like that area of the park
I was almost hit by a car yesterday. Totally my fault. I rode downtown to experience the sea of large purple ravens fans. It was a crazy scene. I was riding on the road part of Gwynn Falls trail, gawking at all of the hoopla, talking to my friend. The road seemed more like a carnival than a street. I was going real slow and rode right through a stop sign, my friend shouted just as I saw the sign and car. Everyone stopped just in time. We were going slow so injuries wouldn't have been bad. I was a little After that I headed to Duclaws for a few. They had their winter stout, Jack Black....Delicious. I highly recommend it.

we're robbed everytime we play them, that man never had both feet down!!!! Did you see Harbaughs lips? He went up to the ref and said "DID YOU EVEN SEE THE REPLAY!"
Anyway, I couldn't get the wife out of the park, I tried but she wouldn't and the inlaws only agreed to an hour. We went in Avalon area off washington blvd (by the used car place) and road everything paved we could inside the park.
I told the wife all I want for christmas are gift certificates from aunts, parents and grandparents for baby sitting.
2 kids makes it difficult for us to ride together, last night we each did about 10 miles, she did hers, then I did mine.

Ian-I lived in several places (dives) in Bolton Hill when I was a student at MICA. Even lived up on Mt. Royal Terrace. Last place I lived as a student was above The Park Ave. Pharmacy. Oh man was that living!!
No biking this weekend but for my hill drills. Today would have been great but I was being a dad.

cool bikes
Some days my job is just so tough. One of the things I'm doing today is drawing a disassembled bike for an outdoors/adventure magazine. This is the link they sent me for reference. This company "Sweetpea" that is featured in the article builds bikes specifically for women, but I thought they were just pretty cool bikes, the wooden fenders, and the wide racks on the bike I'm illustrating.

I like those wooden fenders, not a bad looking bike, thanks for the pics.
I wish I could have road yesterday that would have been great, but everyone in my house was sick and I had so errands to run later in the day and today no riding as I've been bed ridden all day sleeping, the flu or something I still feel like crap.
The boy goes to preschool and everyweek brings home a different illness. Fun fun.

Yeah, I think I caught some kind of crud being exposed to all of those new people during my trip to Texas.
I'm still riding, though, because I have no more payed time off.

I smiled broadly as I pedalled over a bridge and spied this mess on I-95 @ ~6am:
It was backed up as far as the eye could see in the southbound lane.

There are a few of us around who have adapted the Fenix L2D to our bikes or their helmets and are enjoying the results. Keep in mind this light does not come with hardware to mount it on your bike, that you have to figure out how to do on your own. But with that said it is on sale so a good deal just got better.
